About the Course

This course specifies the skills and knowledge required to operate plant and equipment to place and compact waste at a landfill site, cover the waste to minimise environmental impact and contamination, and improve landfill efficiency.

It includes using compaction techniques and placing and compacting waste according to the stage of batter development. Including placing a cover which conforms to regulatory requirements.

It also describes the skills and knowledge required to construct, install and maintain a range of measures specified on erosion and sediment control plans. Also focusing on implementing maintenance schedules to repair and maintain access roads and drainage and maintain landfill cells.

Statement of Attainment –  For each unit below

• Place, compact and cover waste at landfill sites
• Implement erosion and sediment control measures.
• Store and monitor contained waste.
• Maintain waste landfill sites.
